The Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra is delighted to be presenting Educational Childrens’ Concerts for the sixth year in 2008.
Especially designed for children and their families across the Banyule community and surrounds, these concerts will be held on Sunday July 27th, 2008. In response to community demand, there will be three concerts given on the day with the same programme being presented at each concert. Performances commence at:
1.00pm
2.30pm
4.00pm
Once again, the venue is the Performing Arts Centre, Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School, Upper Heidelberg Road, Ivanhoe.
The 2008 concert program is designed for children between 4-14 years of age. Chris Carolane, the narrator, will explain how an orchestra works, its instrument families, their individual names and sounds. Then the orchestra will perform a range of music and at times, the narrator will invite audience involvement.
Each concert will run for approximately 50 minutes.
Experience has shown that children and their families most enjoy an entertaining range of well-known cinema and classical works. Thus our 2008 concerts will feature music that children will recognize but may never seen performed live including music from Bugs Bunny and associated cartoons, The Simpsons and Indiana Jones.
Entry to the concerts is via paid tickets. Each seat, regardless whether adult, concession or child, is just $5.00. (As a non-profit community organization, monies from ticket sales will be used directly to offset the costs incurred in performing this event.)
Tickets for the three performances can be obtained by phoning 9005 1792 or 9434 2857.
Please note that tickets purchased are transferable but not refundable. There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased in a single transaction unlike previous years when restrictions applied.
