The ingenious combination of college drinking songs and folk tunes that Brahms weaves into the taut structure of his ‘Academic  Festival  Overture’ provides an ideal foil to Arnold’s mesmerising film score, David Copperfield, based on Charles Dickens’ immortal story.

The two virtuosic works for Double Bass by Bottesini and Ramsier will astound the audience with the technical requirements of our soloist, MSO Principal Double Bassist, Steve Reeves.

John Williams’ Across the Stars is a sublime masterpiece with haunting harmonies, a gorgeous melody and is a gentle work with an undercurrent of sadness and uncertainty.

The film score to the 1935 cinematic hit, Captain Blood, is a work of genius and is one that  began the age of romantic symphonic movie music in Hollywood.
